I was never fond of the idea of making fake engine noise. It also frees up a little space in engine bay. I'm interested in how it holds up in time with under hood heat. I have a 2014 Taurus SHO w/ 83K miles. I bought it in mid 2019 w/ 47K miles. When acceleration is slow/mild, it creates this "gurgle" type of noise. Under heavy acceleration, it's not there. I've seen someone mention about the cam phasers but I had both cam phasers and timing chain replaced last year. Any idea what the cause of this is? If the Explorer Sport is anything like the Taurus SHO, there is no digital enhanced fake engine noise. The SHO uses a noise generator on the air intake tract (thing sticking out the air tube right by the throttle body). 1. Receive Engine data from CANBUS (RPMs, throttle position, speed, etc.) 2. Generate fake vroom vroom noises and send those noises to the sound system amplifier (prob via line-level audio signals) to be blended into the sound system's speakers.

However, the engine sounds a lot different to me compared to before the chain replacement.Few noises of any kind permeate the SHO’s double-pane front glass and acoustically treated windshield glass.
