i have a 2016 F-150 5.0 normal 4x4. Wanted to change transfer case fluid . Manual states to use Motorcraft XL-12 transfer case fluid. Went to dealer and they gave Mercon LV ,said it was the replacement . I don't always trust parts guys . Anyone else run into to this ? I can still find XL-12 online .Which should I use ??? Source ssd drive was cloned years ago from an MBR hdd, then used mbr2gpt. It still has c:\boot and c:\efi, as well as the Fat32 EFI partition. I remember I tried to clean out those directories a year ago and had to roll back since it wouldn't boot. So it was definitely configured weirdly. I've tried to commands step by step, can't boot. So now what you need to do is: Copy the data through the USB flash drive to carry out the data transfer, rather than trying to "copy" the old system. One way is to delete the efi folder from the esp partition and recreate the boot critical files from scratch using bcdboot command. Diskmgmt will label the partition currently booted into as Boot. The partition containing the boot critical files is labelled System.
If Windows doesn't boot from one port, try booting from another port. In short, try booting from USB 2.0 port. Or if you must use a USB 3.0 port, then in the BIOS, change the Internal USB 3.0 controller from 'enabled' to AUTO, and try booting from each of the ports to find the one that works. Use partition master, assign an available drive letter, for example: "S" to the EFI partition on disk 1 (your SSD) then open the Admin command prompt then type: bcdboot F:\windows /s S: /f UEFI. This will rebuild the BCD in disk 1 with correct info to boot Windows from F. Once done, remove the letter. Reboot.
